MOTOR SIZING

1.Volume of mechanism:-

a.For main rod: * L=2.5cm * B=0.5cm * Thickness=1cm

Volume L x B x Thickness= 2.5cm x 0.5cm x 1cm=1.25 cm^3

b.For secondary rod: * L=9cm * B=1cm * Thickness=1cm

Volume L x B x Thickness= 9cm x 1cm x 1cm=9cm^3

Total volume= Volume of main rod + Volume of secondary rod=10.25 cm^3

Density of acrylic sheet=1.18g/cm^3

Mass of mechanism= 10.25 x 1.18=12.095g

2. Volume of Dog:-

L=6 cm B=5 cm H=3.6cm

Volume=L x B x H=6cm x 5cm x 3.6cm=108 cm^3

Density of plastic=0.92g/cm^3

Mass of dog=108 x 0.92=99.36g

3. Mass of 5 rupee coin=9g

4. Total mass:-

M=12.095g + 99.36g + 9g=120.455g=0.1205kg

8.Force involved is Horizontal Force which is given by the formula

F= coefficient of friction x M x g=0.4 x 0.1205 =0.0482

9.Torque

T= F x r=0.0482 x 2.5=0.1205 kg-cm

Applying Safety factor,T=0.1205 x 1.5=0.1808kg-cm

Therefore the RPM of motor is 1000 and hence we require a 1000RPM 12V Centre shaft DC Geared Motor

BATTERY SIZING

No. of DC motor used=1

Load current used=250 mA

Factor of Safety=1.2

Required adapter=1 x 250 x 1.2=300 mA @12V=1A
