2. GATHERING PERTINENT INFORMATION - B-Division-2022-2023-Odd/Repo-01 GitHub Wiki

INTRODUCTION :-

Piggy bank is the Traditional name of a Coin Container normally used by the children. The piggy bank is known to the collectors as "STILL BANK" as oppose to the "MECHANICAL BANKS" popular in the 20th Century. An automated piggy bank is an electronic safe of storing coins and accounts. It is equipped with electronic mechanism.

GOAL :-

The of our team is to design and build an automatic piggy bank using some electrical components like Motor,Battery, etc. It will be a innovative product and fun for the kids to use such a product.

PERTINENT INFORMATION GATHERING DOCUMENT :-

Need Statement :-

A company in Hubbali is interested in designing an automatic piggy bank to attract customers. Most often piggy banks are non-automatic,so the company is looking to automate the piggy bank machine to collect the coins suitable for the children of age group 5 to 17.

WORKING AND COMPONENTS:-

The Automatic piggy bank accepts the coins and accounts by itself and then stores them automatically. The exterior design is aesthetically pleasing to attract the customers.Following are the mechanism of the components:-

1. DC MOTOR

image

DC motors are used in applications requiring speed control, positioning, and frequent starting, stopping, and reversing. They are also used in high power applications, such as electric vehicles and industrial machinery.

Functions: • Speed Control: DC motors can be easily controlled by varying the applied voltage or current. This allows for precise speed control and acceleration. • Reversibility: DC motors can be easily reversed by reversing the applied voltage. • Torque: DC motors can produce high starting torque, which is useful for applications such as electric vehicles and industrial machinery. • Efficiency: DC motors are more efficient than AC motor

2. 9V BATTERY

image

A 9V battery is typically used to power small electronic devices like smoke alarms, some toys, and radios. It also has a variety of industrial applications.

Function: The 9V battery provides a steady source of power when connected to an electrical circuit.

Uses: 9V batteries are used to power small electronic devices like smoke alarms, walkie-talkies, radios, and some toys. They are also used in industrial applications like medical instrumentation, test equipment, and process measurement.

3. WIRE CONNECTOR

image

Connector wire functions: Connector wires are used to connect two different circuits, allowing them to either exchange signals or share power. They are also used to build external circuits.

Uses: Connector wires are used in many electrical and electronic systems to link circuits together, such as in computers, audio systems, and communications systems. They can also be used to connect devices to power supplies, and to join the ends of wires together.

4. Arduino MEGA

Arduino Mega is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560 microcontroller. It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 14 can be used as PWM outputs),16 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It is a simple and powerful board that can be used to create interactive objects or environments. With the Arduino Mega, users can read sensors, control motors, write to displays, connect to the Internet, and create a wide variety of projects with the help of libraries and sketches, written in the Arduino language.

5. IR SENSORS

image

IR Sensors gives an electrical signal as an output when an object comes in front. By using the output electrical signal, the Arduino can decide whether there is an obstacle or not.IR Sensors are also used in sorting devices.IR Sensors uses the direct incidence method to count the items. Active Infrared sensors both emits and detect infrared radiation. Active IR sensors have two parts: a light emitting diode(LED) and a receiver. When an object comes close to the sensor, the infrared lights from the LED reflects off of the object and is detected by the receiver.

6. CARDBOARD

image

Cardboard functions primarily as a packaging material used to protect and transport products. It is lightweight, cost-effective, and recyclable.

Advantages:

• Lightweight and strong - Cardboard is lightweight and strong enough to protect products during transportation and storage. • Cost-effective - Cardboard is a cost-effective packaging material when compared to other materials. • Recyclable - Cardboard can be recycled, reducing the amount of waste going to landfills. • Versatile - Cardboard can be cut and molded into a variety of shapes and sizes for different uses.

7. LCD DISPLAY MODULE

In LCD 16×2, the term LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display that uses a plane panel display technology, used in screens of computer monitors & TVs, smartphones, tablets, mobile devices, etc. Both the displays like LCD & CRTs look the same but their operation is different. Instead of electrons diffraction at a glass display, a liquid crystal display has a backlight that provides light to each pixel that is arranged in a rectangular network.

8. BUZZER

An audio signaling device like a beeper or buzzer may be electromechanical or piezoelectric or mechanical type. The main function of this is to convert the signal from audio to sound. Generally, it is powered through DC voltage and used in timers, alarm devices, printers, alarms, computers, etc. Based on the various designs, it can generate different sounds like alarm, music, bell & siren.

9. PUSH BUTTON

image

A push button is a type of switch that is activated by pressing down on it. It is a simple, user-friendly device used to control a variety of electrical and mechanical devices. Push buttons are used in a wide range of applications, from controlling home appliances to operating elevators and industrial machinery. Push buttons are typically used to provide a visual indication that the device is in operation, as well as providing a way to activate or deactivate the device. Push buttons are also often used to confirm an action or selection, such as entering a password or selecting a menu item. In addition, push buttons can be used for emergency stop functions to quickly shut down a system or device in the event of an emergency. Push buttons are often designed with ergonomics in mind, allowing them to be comfortably and easily activated by users. They are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and colors, allowing them to be tailored to the specific needs of the application. Push buttons may also be backlit, making them easier to see in dark or low light conditions. These versatile devices are used in a variety of applications, from operating and controlling machinery in factories to operating elevators and escalators in buildings. Push buttons are also used in home appliances
