Lab 0 Routing and Windows - Avery-Luther/SYS-265 GitHub Wiki
In this lab I created my base environment from scratch within vSphere. In this course, I will be creating a similar network to the one in SYS-255 Systems Administration and Network Services 1. This week I am getting the firewall, and Windows based systems running. Here are all of the VMs that I configured in this lab:
- fw01: A firewall/router running PFSense. All of our WAN traffic will go through this box.
- ad01: A Windows Server Core 2019 server running Active Directory Domain Services.
- wks01: A Windows 10 workstation running under my Active Directory domain.
- mgmt01: A Windows Server 2019 server that manages the domain.
Had a few issues between the chair and keyboard this week that resulted in having to reinstall AD01 from scratch. It turns out that it is very hard to configure a server when you don't use your password manager. Another unrelated issue I ran into was that the default Group Policy, did not like my password complexity, despite fitting within the requirements. Although not a permanent fix, I disabled the complexity requirement and I was able to create the new user accounts.
Notes from class:
