KU-Connect Vision and Scope
Author: Phantawat Lueangsiriwattana, Sunthorn Kompita, Kristawan Jaroenrad, Nichapat Sirinantanakul Revised: 15 Aug 2025
Background
SKE and CPE students currently struggle with scattered job postings across multiple platforms, lack of verification systems, and generic job boards that don't focus on technical roles. Similarly, KU-affiliated employers have difficulty identifying qualified graduates from our programs.
KU Connect solves this by creating a specialized platform that connects verified students with verified employers within our university community.
Stakeholders and Their Interests
Stakeholder | Interests |
---|---|
Students | Need easy access to relevant technical opportunities and a trusted platform to showcase skills, transcripts, and portfolios to employers. |
Employers | Want access to qualified SKE/CPE graduates and verification that candidates are legitimate KU students. |
Administration | Need tools to verify users, approve content, and maintain platform security while preventing spam and abuse. |
Faculty & Professors | Want visibility into industry trends and employer skill requirements to align curriculum and track program effectiveness. |
Vision
Build a dedicated job platform exclusively for KU's SKE and CPE students that connects them directly with verified employers, helping students launch successful careers while strengthening KU's reputation as a source of skilled technical graduates.
We envision KU-Connect becoming the platform where:
- SKE/CPE students can effectively showcase their skills and portfolios to relevant employers
- KU-affiliated companies can easily discover and recruit qualified graduates
- The university can track and demonstrate the career success of its technical programs
- Faculty can access industry insights to keep curriculum aligned with market demands
Alternatives Solution
Before deciding on KU Connect, we considered these alternatives:
Use Existing Platforms (JobsDB, LinkedIn)
- Pros: No development needed, established user base
- Cons: No verification system, generic focus, students compete with everyone
University Career Services Only
- Pros: Already exists, trusted by university
- Cons: Limited reach, not specialized for technical roles, manual processes
Department-Level Job Boards
- Pros: Faculty-managed, curriculum-aligned
- Cons: Fragmented, limited employer reach, basic functionality
Facebook Groups for Job Posting
- Pros: Easy to set up, students already use Facebook
- Cons: No verification system, posts get buried, unprofessional presentation
