Migrating from 1846 Route Finder - Auzzy/18xx-routes-web GitHub Wiki
What does this new app mean for the 1846 Route Finder? Well, it's now deprecated, but I'm keeping the lights on for now. That is, I'm not going to do any more development on it, and I encourage everyone to migrate to the 18xx Route Finder. But it will continue to work until the end of the year. In around a month, I'll shift it to Heroku's free tier, so it will still work, but will take about 10 seconds to wake up after a period of inactivity. And finally, at the end of 2020, I'll set it up as a redirect to the 18xx Route Finder.

So what can you do if you have a game ongoing but want to migrate? The easiest way is to use the Migrate modal. This will pop up the next time you visit the 1846 Route Finder. If you click "Migrate!", all your data will be sent over to the 18xx Route Finder, and you'll be redirected. Your data will also remain in the 1846 Route Finder as a backup.
If you're not ready to migrate, you can either click the "Remind Me Later" button, which will hide this modal until you visit the page again, or the "Dismiss" button, which won't show the modal again. You can open the modal yourself by clicking the "Migrate to 18xx" link at the top of the app.

Why not just copy the data out of the 1846 Import/Export modal and into the 18xx one? Well, I changed the tile orientations to match Keith Thomasson's Tiles Database. This simplified reusing tile images between games, since it gave me a central source of truth (previously, I'd based it off my own copy of GMT's first printing of 1846).
