Connect to the Odroid - AutoModelCar/AutoModelCarWiki GitHub Wiki
Booting the mainboard
After the battery has been installed in the vehicle, press the power button to start the car. We have installed the Ubuntu 16.04 Linux distribution in the Odroid’s solid-state memory. It boots in about ten seconds. Press the button again to shut down the car.
To start programming the car you need to connect to the car’s computer using Ethernet. Then you can use the ROS framework to program the car.
How to connect to the car’s computer using Ethernet
We are assuming that your computer is running Ubuntu 16.04. Define a new DHCP connection on your computer. In Ubuntu 16.04, you can add a new Ethernet connection and define the settings, as shown in the pictures below for DHCP:

Figure 7: Choose a new Ethernet connection, and set the IPv4 setting as a DHCP. Connect the car’s Odroid with an Ethernet cable to your computer. Turn on the Odroid using the battery and pushing the green key for at least three seconds. Ubuntu on the Odroid boots in about 10 seconds. Then the DHCP connection for your computer will connect to the Odroid automatically.
Make sure that you have openssh-server on your Odroid, otherwise install it:
$ sudo apt-get install openssh-server
Then connect to the car using ssh in your own computer :
$ ssh [email protected]
Password: elfmeter
To not have to type in the password every time you can store your ssh public key on the car:
$ ls ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub || ssh-keygen
[hit enter until the prompt returns]
$ ssh-copy-id [email protected]
