Flippin Fly's

How to play!

Flippin Fly's is a simple and intuitive game with very easy to understand controls and win conditions. To get points all you gotta do is survive! The longer your fly stays in the air the higher your score!

There are two ways to lose, the first is if your fly hits any of the four walls, this will call an immediate GAME OVER. As you play you will encounter obstacles in the form of boxes falling from the sky, get hit by one of this and it's also GAME OVER!

There are two different inputs the user can make, a touch on the left hand side of the screen, or a touch on the right. A touch on the left hand screen will cause the fly to move left or a touch on the right will cause it to move to the right. Any touch at all regardless on which side of the screen will cause the fly to flip jumping into the air. More complex moves can be completed such as rapidly touching one side of the screen twice causing the fly to flip further. Or touching the opposing side of the screen to stop the flip quickly in mid air. For example my fly is far on the right side of the screen, but I want to dash quickly to the left, if I double tap the left side of the screen my fly will zoom quickly to that side. Or say for example I go to move right but a falling object is going to hit my fly! I can quickly tap the left side of the screen to stop my fly from getting hit and causing me to lose!

Guide to installation

Head back to the Main Page of this repository and click clone or download. Alternatively you can click Here. Once that has finished downloading right click the zip folder and select 'Extract All'. Choose a location for these files, this is where you will go to start up the game. Presuming you have python 3.7.3 and pygame installed you can simply open the folder and double click on the file named "flippinFlys.py" and as simple as that you are playing!

IF HOWEVER YOU DO NOT HAVE PYTHON 3.7.3 AND PYGAME INSTALLED FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO DO SO

First head to the Python Website and click the big yellow button to download the latest python installer. Once this file has finished downloading, double click it to run. Follow the instructions on screen, pay attention to the checkboxes, you can leave most of them as default but make sure you check that you are installing pip and adding python to PATH, these are very important and are as easy as clicking a box when the time comes. Now you have python installed on your computer it is time to install the library Pygame. If you correctly clicked those two boxes installing pip and adding python to PATH this step is extremely easy, if not, run the installer again and make sure you check the boxes. To install pygame press the windows key and then type "cmd" and hit enter. This will open a windows command prompt window. From here all you need to do is type the command 'pip install pygame'. Wait for it to download and then you are done! You can now play Flippin Fly's!
