Welcome!

Updating Technic packs is a pain. For me at least. You update the mods on the server, then copy them into a zip file, you have to check that your client mods are only in the pack.... THEN you've got config problems! Make sure your configs are the same on pack/client, and if you're like me and like to tweek them it's just added problems.

So I made this!

For now this only works under Python 2.7 or later, but I will be looking to port it pack to 2.6 as well once I can sort out a replacement for shutil.make_archive(). Everything else will work under Python 2 or 3 on any operating system (tested on linux only).

How to use!

First step is to create a set of Master Folders. You'll need a single Master Folder, inside which should be a folder for mods, client only mods, config files, and one called "bin" for your version of Forge. Once you've got that, that's basically it!

The script will copy all mods and config files to the server, and the make a .zip file containing the mods, client mods, config and bin, all laid out nicely ready for Technic to use. It'll then stick that folder somewhere web accessible, so all you need to do it bump up your Technic version! Whilst it does that it will also try to copy the old pack out of that web location and move it to a backup folder, so if you made a dodgy update you can rewind! It won't rewind the server, mind you, just the pack.

All the options are configurable, see the config page for what you can do.

Plans for the future!

Currently I'd like to have this script be able to move files to non-local machines, both so it can push backups and the web folder. It would mean you could backup to an off-site location, but also you could run the update on your home computer and have it push server/pack files to a remote server.

Also I'd like a "First run" setup, where it'll prompt you to enter all the config values that would need setting for the first time you run it.

Finally (for now) I'd like a more comprehensive backup whereby the script can take a snapshot of everything important each time you run it. Obviously this'll be a much bigger backup file as I'd need to capture the world, minecraft.jar, mods, config, AND the pack. This would possible have to be optional, but would be nice!
