Ground Track Qwidget - AudacySpace/quindar-ux GitHub Wiki

Description

The purpose of this qwidget is to display position of satellite, location of earth stations and communication links between satellites and earth stations. This is displayed using the streaming telemetry data from the satellite with the trajectories displayed as solid line on the world map. When there is no streaming data, the qwidget will calculate the estimated location of the satellite. The estimated trajectory is plotted as a dashed line.

The qwidget layout has three views:

  • Main View(Default view)
  • Delete Menu
  • Settings Menu

Main View

On opening the qwidget, this view is displayed. This viewing window has the following main elements.

  • A 2D World Map
  • Home button
  • Zoom in and Zoom out buttons

2D World Map The 2D World Map displays the following when position and velocity values are set for a vehicle from the settings menu:

  • Display of satellite using a satellite icon.Every satellite on the map has a title displayed on hovering the mouse on the icon.
  • Display of satellite orbit using colored line path. This orbit path is only displayed when orbit is enabled in the settings menu.
  • Display of location of earth stations. The locations are displayed using orange color locators on the map.
  • Display of coverage area of earth station. The coverage area of an earth station is displayed in orange color.
  • Display of communication links between satellites. This link is displayed in yellow color.
  • Display of communication links between earth station and satellites. This link is displayed in orange color.

Home button

This is a home icon button, displayed on the top right corner above the map.The map goes back to the original view after zoom in and zoom out when the home button is clicked.

Zoom in and Zoom out

These are icon buttons, displayed beside the home button on the top right corner above the map.Zoom in(+) button zooms in the map and zoom out(-) button zooms out of the map. Also double clicking on the map allows to zoom in. Dragging left and right on the map helps to pan the map.

Delete Menu

This menu can be viewed by clicking the trash icon on the qwidget header. This menu has yes and no buttons. This menu is used to delete the qwidget from the dashboard.

Settings Menu

This menu can be viewed by clicking the settings button (cog icon) on the qwidget header. This menu is used to set the position coordinates, velocity magnitude components, enable orbit and icon for a selected satellite vehicle. This menu has two pages

Page 1: This page is used to select vehicle, has the following elements.

  • Select Vehicle Dropdown
  • Save and Close buttons

Page 2: This page is used to set position coordinates, velocity magnitude components, enable orbit and icon for the selected vehicle in page 1 of the settings menu, and has the following elements.

  • Input field with dropdown button to select position. The button opens a dropdown list which show parameters option.

    • Show Parameters is used to view the selected position coordinates/parameters.On click on this option,a modal is opened showing the selected position coordinates. The user can view, drag and drop to change the order of the selected coordinates. The changed order is effective only when saved using the save button in the modal. The selected position coordinates order if changed will not be saved if cancel button is clicked in the modal.
  • Input field with dropdown button to select velocity. The button opens a dropdown list which has show parameters option.

    • Show Parameters is used to view the selected velocity magnitude coordinates/parameters.On click on this option,a modal is opened showing the selected velocity magnitude coordinates. The user can view, drag and drop to change the order of the selected coordinates. The changed order is effective only when saved using the save button in the modal. The selected velocity magnitude coordinates order if changed will not be saved if cancel button is clicked in the modal.
  • Slide Toggle for Orbit

  • Slide Toggle for Icon

  • Save and Close buttons

Vehicle Selection The vehicle has to be selected from the dropdown in order to set position and velocity values to be displayed on the world map.

Required: This requires vehicle selection to move to the next settings page(to set position and velocity data).

Below is the explaination to select the vehicle from select vehicle dropdown.

  • Enable the checkbox beside the vehicle name in the dropdown list.On enabling the checkbox near the vehicle name,a cog icon is displayed to the right of the vehicle name in the dropdown list which is a shortcut to page 2 of the settings menu. This is displayed only when the vehicle is enabled. When enabling a vehicle for the first time, page 2 is automatically displayed on vehicle selection.

Position Selection

Input Description: The position coordinates are required as input for the execution of ground track qwidget. These coordinate values help in determining the latitude and longitude position of the satellite icon on the 2d world map. The position coordinates are available from the data tree in data menu.

Input Value: x, y, z

Input Order: x, y, z

Required: This input field requires all the three position coordinates.

The following section(Select Data) explains how to select position data from the data menu.

Select Data:

  • Click on the input field below select position label. This will open the data menu(left navigation menu) on the dashboard.
  • Traverse through the data tree in the data menu(or search using the search bar) and multi select the input value mentioned above in the order mentioned.[Note: Multiselect here refers to selection of all the required values one after the other.]

Velocity Selection

Input Description: The velocity magnitude components are required as input for the execution of ground track qwidget. These coordinate values help in determining the velocity of the satellite icon on the 2d world map.The velocity magnitude components are available from the data tree in data menu.

Input Value: vx, vy, vz

Input Order: vx, vy, vz

Required: This input field requires all the three velocity magnitude coordinates.

The following section(Select Data) explains how to select velocity data from the data menu.

Select Data:

  • Click on the input field below select velocity label. This will open the data menu(left navigation menu) on the dashboard.
  • Traverse through the data tree in the data menu(or search using the search bar) and multi select the input value mentioned above in the order mentioned.[Note: Multiselect here refers to selection of all the required values one after the other.]

Slide Toggle for Orbit

The selected satellite position is displayed using an oribit line path. This orbit path is enabled using this slide toggle button. The slide toggle behaves similarly to a checkbox to toggle(enable/disable) the display of the satellite orbit.

Slide Toggle for Icon

The selected satellite is displayed using a satellite svg icon. This icon is enabled using this slide toggle button. The slide toggle behaves similarly to a checkbox to toggle(enable/disable) the display of the satellite icon.

Save This button is used to save the selected values and enable the display of satellite position, earth station location and their communication links. Both page 1 and page 2 of the settings menu have the save button. The save button in page 2 of settings menu helps to save the parameters set in the input fields and status set in the slide toggle for orbit and icon.On successful save, the page 1 of the settings menu is displayed showing the selected vehicles in the dropdown list.On successful save on page 1 of the settings menu, the qwidget layout changes from page 1 of settings menu to main view layout displaying the orbiting satellites(if more than one),earth stations and their coverage area, communication links between earth station and satellite and communication link between satellites on the world map.On hover on the satellites, the name of the satellite is displayed.

Close

This button is used to clear any changes made to the settings and go to the previous page(page 1 of settings menu incase of close button for page 2 of settings menu or qwidget main layout incase of page 1 of settings menu).
