Privacy and Security Discussion

  • NHSN has two different identifiers: one for organization internally assigned to a facility and is treated as Protected Information (not PHI but combined with PHI can easily id individuals) and not shared. Other one is a facility OID assigned by CDC Help Desk used for HAI reporting, used in CDA submissions.
  • Keith reached out to PH WG and they said they could create something like that in a couple of months when people have time. So from the NHSN side, what kinds of things get reported to an HSN besides the normal modules?
    • Many additional reporting programs because of all the different types of reporting and data. Some subset is forwarded to CMS, some based on state regulations, etc. Many perspectives.
