Additionally to the species nameindex you use to index your data, LA uses a subgroup of the taxonomy hierarchy that is more representative for your territory in order to show a summary of results in Biocache and Regions modules searches (for instance).

By default, LA provides its own subgroups.json, that is configured in /data/biocache/config/subgroups.json but this highlights some species relevant to Australia (and no others). As many of us we don't have marsupials in our territory, unfortunately, you should create and configure another subgroup more representative to your territory.

Examples of subgroups.json:

• ALA subgroups. The default one also deployed by ala-install.
• GBIF.ES subgroups.
• UK subgroups. ALA subgroups with slightly adapted Plantae subgroup.

Some search example of a Spanish region:

Your subgroups.json names should match the hierarchy used in your nameindex (for instance ALA Plantae subgroups hierarchy does not work well with the GBIF Backbone taxonomy).

Also this configuration step is a good opportunity to translate the common names of subgroups.json to your main language of your territory.

Take into account that after a subgroups re-configuration, a biocache reindex must be necessary in order to show corrects subgroups results by solr.
