Mutation in this magical system represents the mystical transformation of ordinary materials into their enchanted or altered counterparts using alchemical reagents.
TL;DR: Mutation System
Mutavis is a catalyst that transforms ordinary blocks into magical variants. Use it directly on blocks for single transformations, or apply it to a Morphora flower to mutate everything in a radius. Common flowers become magical plants, stones cycle through different types, and basic blocks upgrade to more useful forms. It's essentially magical transmutation with sparkly effects and enchantment table sounds.
How Mutation Works
Mutavis serves as a powerful transmutation catalyst - a carefully prepared compound that can restructure the fundamental nature of blocks and materials. When applied to compatible substances, it triggers a magical process that converts them into related but enhanced or altered forms.
The transformation process involves:
- Direct Application: Using Mutavis directly on a block causes it to dissolve and reform as its mutated variant
- Area Effect: The mystical Morphora flower can channel Mutavis to transform everything within its radius simultaneously

The Philosophy Behind Mutation
This system reflects classical alchemical concepts where base materials can be elevated or transformed through proper catalysts and knowledge. The mutations follow logical patterns - ordinary flowers become magical variants with enhanced properties, common stones cycle through geological transformations, and basic terrain blocks evolve into more useful forms.
Rather than simple crafting, mutation represents a deeper understanding of the hidden connections between materials - recognizing that with the right catalyst, a simple blue orchid contains the potential to become a spirit-touched bloom, or that humble clay carries within it the essence of rich mud.
Notes
- All mutations require the Mutavis item to perform
- Mutavis is crafted with: Bone Meal + Tree Resin + Crushed Herbs (×2)
- The stone mutations form a cycle: Diorite → Granite → Andesite → Diorite
- The dirt progression chain: Dirt → Rooted Dirt → Podzol
- Flora mutations generally transform vanilla plants into magical variants
