Duration

• Maturity period of 15 years
• Can be extended for as long as the account holder wishes to continue it
• Extensions can be done for 5 years at a time

Interest rates

• Compounded annually
• PPF interest rates for July – September 2019 quarter stands at 7.9%.

Interest credit

• Interest is paid on the lowest balance in the PPF account from the 5th to the last day of each month
• Credited to your PPF at the end of each financial year (FY)

Taxation

• Tax-free
• Contribution has 80C benefit.

Contributions

• Up to Rs 1.5 lakh per annum
• Minimum deposit must be made every financial year to keep the account active.
