technology user does own a Smartphone but only uses

the basic functionalities.

Relationship to science: Knows basic science

Disabilities: None

Museum experience: Visits the museum with her family,

who values the educational experience.

Visiting Group: Veronica visits museums with her family, including her three

young daughters.

“I go to the Museum for my family; it is a cheap way of enjoyment”

Veronica prefers to attend museums on days that are sure not to be busy. It is

easier for her to keep track of her daughters when the museum is not crowded. It

is often very tempting to nudge her daughters along so that the family can see

every exhibit and participate in every activity in order to get the full “value” of the

museum; but children want to interact with the museum. Veronica sticks to only

using the audio components because her children are often tempted to touch the

items. It is hard to keep track of the places she has already been in the museum

because her children require most of her attention. The children complain that

they keep visiting the same exhibits.

playing games, and social networking

Relationship to science: Has always loved science

Disabilities: low vision.

Museum experience: Visits the museum whenever a new exhibit

opens up.

Visiting Group: Dave visits museums with his friend who

sometimes needs to helps him navigate.

“I get overwhelmed when there is too much visual information on the screen.”

Dave is an avid reader. He reads using a variety of methods, including reading

small print with a magnifier.
