DHCP
- DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Config Protocol.
- Dynamically assigns IP addresses to devices using a domain network.
- Automatically configures new hosts within a domain.
- IP pool: Range of IPs available for assignment by the DHCP server.
- Scope: Includes IP Pool, DHCP configs, etc.
How it Works
- DHCP Release: DHCP Reassigns an IP
- DHCP Discovery: New system in a domain asks the network for a IP address from the network.
- DHCP Offer: The DHCP offers a IP address to the new system.
- Request: The new system acknowledges that it wants the IP.
- DHCP ACK: DHCP server assigns the IP to the new system.
