Problem: When I click on the ‘safari.exe’ file I get an error message saying Windows protected my PC Solution: Click on the ‘More info’ link, then click ‘Run Anyway’
2
Problem: The setup process has been completed but the demo isn’t working as expected Solution: Check that all 4 LEDs on the Safari board are lit up. Check also that the blue/green LED on the Kinetis MCU board (bottom board) is lit. If one or more is unlit one of the power sources is out. Use DVM along with schematics to locate problem.
3
Problem: Demo doesn’t work and all 4 Safari LEDs and the blue/green Kinetis LED are lit up Solution: Close the GUI software and power off the demo kit by unplugging the line cord. Wait approximately 30 seconds, plug back in and restart the demo.
4
Problem: The GUI doesn’t show any serial devices or COM ports Solution: Check the Device Manager on your PC to see if the serial device is present. If it is not, unplug the serial cable and plug it into a different USB port if possible. If the serial device is present in the Device Manager, close and relaunch the GUI.
5
Problem: The GUI shows the Data Streaming Method as Cloud or Serial but no data appears Solution: There is most likely a problem communicating with the Safari mezzanine card. Close the GUI software and power off the demo kit. Wait approximately 30 seconds and then restart the demo.

Problem: Motor doesn’t spin and the blue/green LED on Kinetis board is not lit up Solution: Board is not receiving power. Check that the power barrel jack is fully inserted into the motor driver board. You should feel a slight ‘click’ followed by a solid click when it is fully inserted, even though part of the connector is still protruding.

Problem: Motor doesn’t spin and blue/green LED on Kinetis is lit up Solution: Check for standalone operation by clicking the small pushbutton SW2 on the corner of the board a few times and see if the motor starts spinning. If not the Kinetis MCU board may need to be reprogrammed.
9
Problem: Motor control board spins motor when button SW2 on the Kinetis board is pushed; however the GUI will not start the motor Solution: The control signal from the Meerkat is not reaching the Kinetis. Check that the 2 wires connecting the Meerkat to the Kinetis board are connected.

Problem: Motor control board does not spin motor, even after pushing button SW2 several times; however, the blue/green LED is lit up Solution: Board is receiving power but there is something wrong with the control instructions from the Kinetis MCU to the motor control board. Contact ESC for help. You may be able to reprogram the Kinetis board using downloadable files.
