AXE5 Eagle Platform Quick Start Guide - ArrowElectronics/Agilex-5 GitHub Wiki
This Quick Start Guide describes the hardware and software setup needed to run the Example Design.
In the demo configuration there is one possible software environment one hardware configurations:
- AXE5-Eagle runs a Linux Operating System
To run a demo, follow the steps below:
- Need to have a terminal emulator available capable of running at 115200 baud rate.
- Download the .sof FPGA configuration from Need to add a link
- prepare and install the SD Card.
Configuration for Standalone Linux
The configuration for this example design is comprised of the following components:
- AXE5-Eagle (TEI0185-01) development board,
- includes a 12VDC 40W power supply
- includes Arrow-USB-Blaster (TEI-0004-02) for downloading to the FPGA
- Monitor with HDMI input
- HDMI cable
- micro-USB Cable
- Keyboard and Mouse with USB connectors
- Arrow-USB-Blaster download cable (adapter board)
Configure the MSEL DIP Switches
Select the SD card as the boot source for the HPS processor system by setting MSEL2 and MSEL1 to ONNN/OFFF
- place holder for DIP switch image
Assemble the Hardware
- Insert the SD card in the J24 cage, on the right hand of the board.
- Attach the monitor to the AXE5-Eagle using an HDMI cable
- Attach the keyboard and mouse to the AXE5-Eagle using any of the 4 USB ports
- Attach the micro-USB cable to UART (J5) connector
- Connect the power supply to the AXE5-Eagle J29 barrel connector
- Plug the AC-DC adapter into an AC outlet
Run the demo
The AXE5-Eagle board powers up when the 12VDC power is applied to it.
In addition to the SD card, the FPGA needs to be configured with its hardware configuration.
- Plug the Arrow-USB-Blaster (TEI0004-02) into J34 with the USB connector facing to the right.
- Open a Quartus Programmer window and download the .sof into the FPGA
