Edit Mode History - ArnoldSmith86/virtualtabletop GitHub Wiki

The History button of the Edit Mode Menu (right sidebar) lets you review the changes made in the room and return the room to an earlier state.

Menu2 The Text Area displays the history of the changes made in the room (through Edit Mode and regular game play). The list is not infinite, but should be sufficiently long to fix most issues. Click on any numbered row (that when possible, includes which player made the change and what widget was changed) to return the room to the state after the described action. You can click on a higher numbered row to return to a later state, but only up until a new change is made after returning to a past state. WARNING: the history operation may occasionally glitch. It is a best practice to make regular backups or saved states of your room.

The Undo button of the toolbar (and its z hotkey) takes the same step as clicking the row below the active one, so what it undoes stays in the list as a dimmed row that you can click to restore that state again — until a new change is made, which drops the rows of the now parallel timeline. The button greys out once the only thing left in the list is the state the room was loaded with, where there is nothing more to undo. Rows can also be reached with the keyboard: tab to a row and press Enter or Space to return to that state.
