What is MatLab?

MatLab stands for MATrix LABoratories created by MathWorks. It is a numerical computing environment setup like a programming language. It's two main functions are:

• Matrix Manipulation
• Data Visualization

Functions within MatLab come from Toolboxes which are packages developed by both MathWorks and 3rd party groups. Each toolbox has a specific function whether such as math, statistics, optimization. Some organizations will even develop toolboxes specific for a certain industry.

MatLab addtionally supports SIMULINK a modeling plugin, for more information on this go to MathWorks as it is not covered within this tutorial.

This project was done as a senior project in May 2018. The coordinator for this project was Mr. Jonathan Tatkon-Coker. Please consult your computer science teacher if you have any questions about this material. Additionally, there are some math teachers who have experience with MatLab that may also be able to help.
