General

What is Terratonic?

Terratonic is a modified version of Tectonic that builds in Terralith support. It alters terrain shaping to better accomodate for Terralith's biome layout and adds some of it's terrain features like megacaves, glacial spikes and badlands arches.

Do I need Terratonic if I'm using Tectonic and Terralith?

Yes, world generation will be broken otherwise.

Can I add Terratonic on an existing Terralith/Tectonic world?

Do not install Terratonic, Tectonic or Terralith on an existing world if you do not want large, nasty chunk borders!

How do I install Terratonic?

Due to how the internals of Minecraft work, Terratonic needs to 'take priority' over Terralith. This means that when you open the Data Packs screen, Terratonic should be above Terralith.

Mod version

The mod version of Tectonic will automagically load Terratonic if the Terralith mod is installed and ensure it is in the correct order. There is nothing that the user needs to do.

Datapack version (Singeplayer)

The datapack version of Tectonic cannot automatically load Terratonic, so you'll have to manually add the Terratonic datapack. It can be downloaded here.

You can set the order of the datapacks in the Create New World screen. When adding the datapacks via the Data Packs screen, move Terratonic to be above Terralith as shown here.

Datapack version (Server)

The datapack version of Tectonic cannot automatically load Terratonic, so you'll have to manually add the Terratonic datapack. It can be downloaded here.

The initial datapack load order on the server is in alphabetical order, with ones later in the alphabet being loaded above ones earlier in the alphabet. Terratonic comes after Terralith alphabetically so provided you don't rename the datapacks you can just put them in the server's datapacks folder and it will run fine.
