Contact & Support - ApertureViewer/Aperture-Viewer GitHub Wiki

Introduction

Aperture Viewer is a highly specialized, artist-driven research and development project, offered to the public for free. Its purpose is to serve as an advanced toolset for virtual cinematography and to push the boundaries of real-time rendering.

To protect the project's primary mission of high-speed, innovative development, the support model is designed to be entirely self-serve. This is our "Ground Control" communications policy.

What This Means

Aperture Viewer does not offer direct, interactive, or guaranteed personal support. This project is not a commercial service and does not have customers. We do not provide:

  • Live chat support (e.g., via Discord).
  • Direct message (DM) or in-world IM support.
  • Email-based technical support for individual issues.
  • Guaranteed responses on any platform.

The project's focus must remain entirely on the code and architectural work.

Support Scope: Aperture-Exclusive Features Only

Support resources, including all documentation on the Wiki and YouTube, are provided exclusively for features that are unique to Aperture Viewer. For any feature that is also found in the official Linden Lab Viewer, Firestorm Viewer, or other similar software and is not explicitly listed as an "Aperture Exclusive" feature on our Wiki, we will not provide documentation or support.

[!NOTE] Users seeking help with standard viewer functions should refer to the extensive resources provided by the respective upstream projects (Linden Lab and Firestorm).

Official Support Resources & Learning Curve

We understand that Aperture Viewer is powerful software and will continue to develop in this respect. As with all such professional-grade tools, there is a significant learning curve.

We are committed to maintaining the Wiki and YouTube channel as a comprehensive source of information, sufficient to allow users to understand and operate the software and its bespoke features.

[!TIP] Our documentation explains what a tool does, but not how to be creative with it. Aperture Viewer is a creative tool; the creative act is ultimately up to you.

These are the only recognized support channels for our exclusive features:

  1. The Aperture Viewer Wiki (Primary Resource)

  2. The Aperture Viewer YouTube Channel (Visual Guides)

    • URL: https://www.youtube.com/@ApertureViewer
    • This channel provides technology demonstrations for the viewer's most powerful unique features.

Documentation Inquiries

If, after thoroughly reviewing our resources, you find that information on a specific Aperture-exclusive feature is missing or unclear, you may request it be added by contacting: [email protected].

[!WARNING] This is a channel for documentation requests only. It is not for individual technical or creative support. Inquiries for personal support will not receive a response.

Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Aperture Viewer is not accepting unsolicited bug reports or feature requests at this time. The development roadmap is internally managed.

The sole exception is for critical security and safety issues. If you discover a feature that you believe could compromise the safety or security of a user, their data, or their person, or that may violate the Linden Lab Third-Party Viewer Policy, please report it immediately to: [email protected].

Our Commitment

Our commitment is to the code, to providing clear documentation for our unique features, and to the safety of our users.

This policy is stated in compliance with the Linden Lab Third-Party Viewer Policy, Section 1.c.

Thank you for your understanding and for your interest in Aperture Viewer.
