Section 16 ‐ Branding & Identity - ApertureViewer/Aperture-Opertations-Manual GitHub Wiki

Aperture Viewer's branding and identity elements are important for establishing a recognizable and professional project image.

16.1 Aperture Viewer Name and Logo

  • Official Name: The official name of the project is "Aperture Viewer."
  • Official Logo:
    • The primary official logo is the circular "Aperture Shutter" design (as seen on the GitHub repository and official communications). (A high-resolution version of this logo should be included as an Appendix or linked from a branding assets section on the Wiki).
    • File: Aperture_256.png (and other resolutions/formats as needed).

16.2 Usage Guidelines for Logo and Branding Assets

  • Official Use by Team: The official logo and project name should be used consistently by team members in all official project communications, documentation, social media profiles, and any project-created assets (e.g., video intros/outros).
  • Community Use (Permissive with Attribution):
    • Users and community members are generally permitted to use the Aperture Viewer name and logo to refer to the project, in reviews, tutorials, showcases of work made with Aperture Viewer, or community discussions, provided such use is:
      • Truthful and not misleading.
      • Does not imply official endorsement or partnership by the Aperture Viewer project where none exists.
      • Is not used in a way that is derogatory, offensive, or harmful to the project's reputation or its community values.
    • When using the logo, it should not be significantly altered, distorted, or obscured.
  • Prohibited Uses:
    • Use of the Aperture Viewer name or logo in any way that suggests official endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation by the Aperture Viewer project without explicit prior written permission from the Project Lead.
    • Use in connection with any product, service, or content that violates the Aperture Viewer Code of Conduct, is illegal, or is generally deemed harmful or offensive.
    • Modification of the logo beyond simple resizing, without permission.
    • Use as part of another company's or project's branding.
  • Branding Consistency: The visual style associated with Aperture Viewer (e.g., color palettes of official themes like "Phantom," general UI aesthetic) should be considered part of its brand identity. While user customization is encouraged within the viewer, official project communications should strive for a consistent professional look.
  • Questions on Usage: Any questions regarding the appropriate use of the Aperture Viewer name, logo, or other branding assets should be directed to the Project Lead via [email protected].

16.3 Official Project Presentation (Website/Primary Platforms)

  • GitHub Repository (ApertureViewer/Aperture-Viewer): Serves as the primary official home for the project's source code, releases, issue tracking, and main Wiki documentation. The README.md file on the main repository page is a key public-facing presentation of the project.
  • Official Wiki ([Link-To-Wiki-Home-Here]): The central hub for all detailed documentation, guides, and project information.
  • Discord Server ([Link-To-Discord-Server-Here]): The primary community and support hub.
  • Official TPV Directory Listing ([Link-To-TPV-Directory-Listing-Here]): The official listing on Linden Lab's Third-Party Viewer Directory.

These platforms represent the core official public face of Aperture Viewer. All information presented on these platforms should be accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with the project's branding and values.
