XML Based Configurations
XML based configurations are written for configuring dispatcher-servlet, hibernate, spring-security, and webflow.
-
Dispatcher Servlet is the spring MVC's implementation of the Front Controller. It is a servlet that takes the incoming request, processes that request to one of a number of handlers, the mapping of which is specific in the DispatcherServlet configuration.
-
Hibernate is a framework that simplifies the development of java application to interact with the database. It is an open source, lightweight, ORM (Object Relational Mapping) tool. ORM is a programming technique that maps the object to the data stored in the database.
-
Spring-Security is a lightweight framework for implementing authentication and authorization in a Spring Application. We are using spring security as it automates authentication, role management, and support for multiple data provider for source data for authentication. Also, it can readily work in a spring application with minimal changes.

Spring Web Flow is a component of the Spring Framework's web stack focused on the definition and execution of user interface (UI) flow within a web application. It is a module that allows us to make logical flows of our web application.
