Dungeons

Advanced Hylotl City

The Advanced Hylotl City was an oceanic Hylotl settlement planned for Boiling planets as a replacement for the vanilla Hylotl Underwater City. Its layout was nearly identical, except that the majority of the sctructure was constructed from the same materials used in K'Rakothan dungeons, and a few facilities within the city were dedicated to the study of ancient technologies. A Hylotl-themed variant of the extradimensional containers could possibly be found there.

This concept was never turned into an actual dungeon, and no files were ever made for it.

Relic Seeker Headquarters

The early iteration of the Relic Seeker hub was vastly different from the ST Syllectis, although it could be unlocked in the same manner. It was originally planned to be a special planet-bound area bordering a Novakid settlement within a savannah or a desert biome. The Relic Seeker HQ consisted of a main two-storey building, a small museum, and a landing pad.

  • The central building contained Relic Exchange and the Reconstruction Table on the first floor, as well as Libra's office and the Relic Seeker Teleporter on the second floor. A tunnel below the building could be entered through a wooden hatch near Relic Exchange and led to the museum's basement to the left and an empty dead end to the right.
  • The museum was expected to be about the same size as Koichi's Museum and store the artifacts recovered by the player during Libra's questline. The only NPCs present in this building were visitors of different races and Novakid employees, neither of whom offered any quests or sold items.
  • The landing pad was occupied by a space train that was slightly different from the Relic Seeker Ships: it was not fully assembled and missed the mech bay. The Crate Unpacker was located at the entrance, while the Star Cartographer stayed inside the furthest wagon.

The entire location was eventually scrapped in favor of the current space train design, with the main building's layout recycled into the locomotive and the key NPCs changing their positions. A unique biome type (atprk_relicseekerhqbiome) previously used for the Relic Seeker HQ was converted into a copy of the vanilla space biome.

Insanity Maze

Before the 1.4 update was released, a more challenging version of the Infinity Maze was briefly considered for implementation. It would feature a number of changes to challenge rooms to make them riskier: rearranged hallways, collapsed floors, upgraded traps that deal more damage, and stronger enemies. Aside from gameplay changes, the Insanity Maze had a dark red ambient light and was littered with dead tentacle blocks, which signified the Ruin's failed attempt to break into the pocket dimension.

The Insanity Maze would be accessed with a special key bought from the Mysterious Gatekeeper. However, this concept saw no further development as other aspects of the mod had higher priority.

Planets and Biomes

Junkyard

Junkyard was one of the earliest planned mini-biomes for the mod, expected to spawn on some Scorched planets instead of Polluted mini-biomes. It would contain a number of microdungeons resembling crude huts built from scrap metal and heaps of random debris, and hostile gangs of Deadbeat scavengers would be a common sight there. A monster endemic to this mini-biome would be Garbadger - a pitch black creature with yellow eyes that used a tall garbage can as its shell.

There is currently no such biome in the mod, the closest thing to it being the Ship Graveyard mini-biome that spawns on the same planet type.

Frozen Fire Biome

Another early mini-biome idea was an unnamed type of environment themed around the unused frozen fire furniture set from the base game. It would most likely spawn on Volcanic planets and contain ruined buildings of the Ancients as well as molten debris from K'Rakothan vehicles, implying that the area used to be a warzone between the two factions. A possible unique monster of this mini-biome was imagined to be an artificial phoenix-like bird that shares a few traits with the Vault Guardians.

While the mini-biome itself was never realized, its unique monster's basic concept evolved into the Statue Mimics: they look even more similar to the Vault Guardians, and their purple flames were directly inspired by the frozen fire furniture.

Shattered Planet

Shattered planets were the mod author's early attempt at making a custom planet type. Unlike most planets however, the player would not be able to visit them directly, similar to Gas Giants. Their color scheme was similar to that of Ashy planets, and their icon featured chunks of the planet hovering above an exposed mantle.

This planet type was never completed for multiple reasons. Firstly, even though Shattered planets could be generated around fiery stars during testing, they could not be viewed from the orbit due to unexpected technical difficulties. Secondly, there was no practical reason to implement a planet type that cannot be interacted with. Finally, by the time the release version of the mod was ready to launch, the concept of a shattered world had been explored by another mod, namely Maple32.

Miscellaneous

Singing Trifangle

The Singing Trifangle was a concept for a new friendly NPC that would spawn aboard the ST Syllectis upon completing the Cold Embrace mission. It was a Devout Trifangle with green stripes that could walk on its spines (this particular idea was heavily inspired by the vulture droids from Star Wars). It would sell random instruments and mech horns for spare salvaged components; the exact offerings would rotate every 24 hours, similar to Frögg Furnishing.

This NPC was eventually changed into Randy, a chatty Repaibot who appears aboard the ST Syllectis from the beginning. He currently does not serve any purpose, but the 1.5 update will give him an optional questline focused on mech challenges.

Counterfeit Goods

atprk_fakerelicgoods Counterfeit Goods were an additional type of trade items alongside Alien Fossils, Historical Records, Minor Artifacts and 4D Anomalies. Similar to other trade goods, they could be obtained from a trader NPC on some Relic Seeker Ships and unpacked at the Crate Unpacker for 1 Dubloon to receive randomized loot. Its treasure pool was nearly identical to Minor Artifacts, with the only additions being the mod's rare crafting materials and junk items.

Due to redundancy, Counterfeit Goods were scrapped before the 1.3 update.
