Nooliths - AngryTurret/K-Rakoth-Mod GitHub Wiki

The Nooliths are one of the extinct non-playable races introduced by the K'Rakoth mod. Alongside the Annelisks and the Fenrons, they were among the four vassal races who served the atprk_krakothdungeon K'Rakoths.

They were different from most sapient species in that their bodies were composed entirely of dense crystals that hosted their consciousness. As long as said crystals were at least partially intact, their memories and personality could be preserved indefinitely, making them biologically immortal. A typical crystalline vessel of a Noolith takes on the appearance of a humanoid figure with sharp angles and one prominent eye, but other forms are theoretically possible as well.

Their associated relic is the Imperfect Vessel. It can be crafted from Dormant Shards at the atprk_reconstructiontableicon Reconstruction Table and traded for the Crystal Pack.

Encounters

While there are no proper Noolith NPCs to speak of, the player can find many of their abandoned structures across the universe.

Dungeons

Remains of Noolith architecture can be seen in the Glaciovolcanic mini-biome of tundra Tundra planets. These pillar-like structures are formed from natural stone and minerals, often decorated with smooth crystal slabs. Similar structures can be also found in the Noolith Birthplace underground mini-biome on most habitable planets.

Sometimes moon Lunar and atprk_chthonianmoon Chthonian planets feature short obsidian pillars with sealed Erchius Crystals. Their exact purpose is unknown, but the presence of Shapeless Chests filled with Noolith-themed loot suggests that the pillars were somehow utilized by the ancient Nooliths.

Trivia

  • Originally the Nooliths were conceptualized as a playable race of underground dwellers, whose settlements could be entered from the surface and extended deep into the caves. Although this concept never saw development, eventually the Nooliths were included in the K'Rakoth mod as an NPC race.
  • Their species name is a combination of Ancient Greek words noos (mind, intelligence) and lithos (stone), reflecting their status as a race of intelligent silicon-based creatures.
