Infinity Maze - AngryTurret/K-Rakoth-Mod GitHub Wiki

atprk_infinitemaze The Infinity Maze is a post-Ruin dungeon unlocked after finishing the Infinity and Beyond quest. It is a multidimensional labyrinth that provides a way to access vanilla and custom challenge rooms in a random order. Moreover, all of these challenge rooms feature random encounters ranging from pots of essence Ancient Essence to hostile NPCs and rare loot chests.

Dimensions

The Infinity Maze consists of three main pocket dimensions that follow each other in a loop: once you clear a room in the final dimension, you return back to the first one and start over, this time going through different challenges. The list of available dimensions is the following:

Unknown Dimension

The Unknown Dimension is the starting section of the Infinity Maze. It features most of the vanilla challenges including 6 platforming sections.

Abandoned Dimension

The Abandoned Dimension is similar to the Unknown Dimension but replaces the platforming sections with new building challenges. The point of these challenges is to build a bridge across a large gap to reach the exit door. Sometimes you will also need to install switches to unlock indestructible doors, use blocks to redirect water towards liquid sensors, and block off flowing lava to proceed. The area you are allowed to build in is always indicated by a thick frame made from Rusty Metal and Hazard blocks.

Forgotten Dimension

The Forgotten Dimension replaces the building sections of the previous dimension with mech challenges. These challenges feature the Ancient counterparts of space monsters, some of which are indestructible and need to be avoided. Moreover, there are some new gameplay elements such as the Ancient Hoverball, forcefields that only let certain entities through, and large prisms that absorb the player's projectiles and reflect them back.

Safe Dimension

As the name suggests, the Safe dimension is the only place within the Infinity Maze that does not contain any challenges. Instead it has a chance to spawn one of the three unique merchants:

  • atprk_vaultraidericon Jade with the alternate atprk_vaultraidershopicon Vault Raider's Stash that sells placeable versions of Ancient Boosters.
  • The atprk_infinitemazegatekeepericon Mysterious Gatekeeper, a strange NPC who offers a way to bypass the Ancient Vault and access the Terraforge directly.
  • The atprk_tinyancientpalaceicon High Gnome Palace, the residence of the Emperor of Gnomekind where a few resource-generating objects are crafted.

A door leading to the Safe Dimension has a 1/10 chance to replace any other exit door.

Tips

General

  • Keep in mind that the Infinity Maze is a tier 8 dungeon and prepare appropriately: enemies that spawn there will have a lot of health and increased damage.
  • Just like with occasional planetary encounters, you may sometimes run into small groups of bandits right next to your spawning point. Be ready to defend yourself.
  • Equipping any Distortion Sphere tech will be useful to reach hidden Essence Chests and statues that drop Ancient Shards.

Building challenges

  • While you are guaranteed to find chests filled with ancient bricks, more often than not they only contain the minimal amount of blocks required to proceed. If this is not enough for you, you can bring your own building blocks that are easy to break.
  • Make sure that you have unlocked the wiring tool. It will be needed to complete one of the challenges.

Mech challenges

  • It is best to equip weapons with high precision: a few of these challenges involve guiding the Ancient Hoverball to its goal, shooting wired targets, and avoiding hitting the reflective prisms.
  • For the same reason, it is not recommended to equip drone-type weapons since they will inevitably target said prisms and the Hoverball, hindering your progress.
  • There are two ways to figure out which space monsters can be killed. Firstly, pay attention to their cores and projectiles: if they glow orange, they are destructible. If they glow purple, this means nothing will kill them (unless you have some ludicrously overpowered equipment from other mods). Secondly, some of the indestructible monsters are not indicated by your mech's sensors.
  • The reflective prisms don't deal contact damage but their projectiles can hit players, monsters and other prisms. Keep the latter in mind since one misfired projectile may lead to a violent chain reaction.
