Team Meeting 4/8

Members Present:

Meeting Breakdown:

• Decided to switch from typescript/firebase to node.js/topcoder
• Planned/began project board
• Discussed and prioritized iterations and tasks
• Met with Professor Yang to discuss project expectations

Conclusions:

• During the meeting, we discussed the functionality that we want to begin working on now, the functionality that we consider our top priority and want to have completed for this project, and the functionality that we want to implement if we have extra time
• Once we decided on the tasks, we allocated who would be assigned to each task
• The tasks that we decided to begin working on now, as well as the tasks that we consider our top priority will be documented in the kanban board
• The tasks that we want to implement if we have extra time will be added to the kanban board if more time becomes available

• Get server up and running using this video as well as the modsim labs
• Implementation of slack api
• Make topcoder db
• Write to and read from topcoder db

Top priority functionality:

• When a bot is called using "@" with no parameters, monitor messages in channel/thread for bad words
• Implement "bad words list” with 2 or 3 words in js to test basic functionality and if a bad word is used remove a star
• If @butterfly reward is used in a class discussion thread then any comment >5 words results in a star reaction
• Reward/punishment notification to student in dm or as a star/x reaction on their post⭐️❌

Later functionality if we have time:

• Enable “teacher” user
• Teacher can manually add/remove a star from a student in dm with the bot, the bot notifies the student
• Star tally channel or dm user with updates and give teacher tally
• Dm teacher about any ❌ and the message that caused it
• Teacher can update bad words list (possibly another topcoder db? check number of reads per day to see if topcoder allows this)
• Deal with star conversion to tickets 🎟
• Potentially reward randomization - 1/5
