Anemone supports placing overlays and shadows on icons. This is all handled via AnemoneIconEffects. All images are placed in an AnemoneEffects/ folder in your theme.

Overlays and Shadows should be the same size as icons on SpringBoard. Iconomatic overlays work fine but shadows' size must be adjusted.
