Normal mode guide.

This is default screen of the tool. It allows the user to Scan, store, output entire structure of the directory provided.

Note: All GUI nodes have tooltips. Hover over any to reveal its intended usage.

Workflow

  • Choose input directory
  • Choose Tracking if required.
  • Select Scan type as per needs.
  • Run Scan
  • Output the scan result to provided output path with provided filename.

Types of scans

  1. Shallow Scan - Scans only current directory(does not loop through its subfolders).
  2. Deep Scan - Scans entire structure within.

The shallow scan is intended for making a list of data items whereas deep scan is for detailed structure. Avoid deep scan for games or os folders(will simply result in buffer overflow).

Purpose of Append Scan

  • If you are using this tool just to scan and store the output, append scan allows to store multiple scan results in a single file.

How tracking works.

After providing a directory as an input

  • If it is already tracked, tracking option in the following node disappears and shows its tracking status.
  • If not tracked, It can be done choosing track this directory and running a scan on it.
  • This initial scan is saved and treated as Base Scan. This starts a timeline of tracking and is used to reflect changes within it.
