• Nicole gave Ascent update talk at CEA/NNSA Quarterly meeting held 9/12/2025 (earlier today)

Recent Developments:

• Cyrus: Working on MFEM things in VisIt that will eventually need to be added to Ascent
• Emily: Working on VTK-m to Viskores transition
  • Hitting an issue with building cuda
• Nicole: Added Box sampling to Sampling filter
  • Just needs to get the CI tests passing
• Nicole: Working on fixing the affine reflect transform for Marbl
• Eric: Going to restart tiling high resolution images

Discussion

• Think about how to best maximize the CEA/NNSA collaboration
• Hank: Wants to teach a Vis class and wants to have students fix bugs and add features for 10 weeks
  • Wants to focus on problems within Ascent & VisIt and teach students how to be effective in a large repository
  • April 1 - June 15 Spring Term
  • Ideally 20-25 students
  • Think about guardrails for commits/contributions
• Cyrus wants to get Ascent built and deployed with VisIt
