1. Introduction - Alienplayer9958/Training-Module---Team-1 GitHub Wiki

Welcome!

This module was created by Kathryn Hanes, Alainna Carmon, and Jerald Sippola.

This module is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of APIs and demonstrate how they can be used to retrieve fand display real-world weather information on an application.

Throughout the module, students will learn how applications communicate with APIs by sending requests, recieving messages, responses, and working with the data that is returned. Using the Open Mateo Weather API, students will learn how to retrieve different types of weather information, such as hourly and daily forcasts, severe weather alerts, historical data, and tropical storm locations.

The module combines instructional material with a hands-on demonstration and guided lab. Students will begin with a provided .NET MAUI project foundation and gradually implement Open Mateo API funcitonality into the applicaiton. Step-by-step instructions, examples, and partial code will be provided to help students understand how each feature works and how different components connect together.

As students progress through the lab, they will build a functional weather application while gaining practical experience working with API endpoints, requests, parameters, and JSON responses. Students will also have opportunities to customize the appearance of their application, allowing them to apply their own design choices while practicing the concepts covered in the training.

This wiki contains the resources and information needed to complete the training module, including the instructional material, demonstration/lab instructions, code examples, and assessment information.
