Real World Locations
- ECVB Centrales Electriques power plant An abandoned power plant ripe for urban exploring. Shows a facility in decay, yet still standing and suitable for "function". [MAP NAME] will include similar industrial areas.
- Hong Kong Back Alleys Crowded, claustrophobic alleyways in the megacity of Hong Kong. [MAP NAME] will be prominently set in a megacity, including a residential area. These types of images capture the feeling of being in a neglected, densely populated residential district.
- Abandoned Steel Plant (Bethlehem, PA?) Rust, metal, and towering industrial structures. Perfect for the industrial district, which has begun merging with residential buildings due to failing, unregulated city planning and industrialization.
- Brutalist structures (Chernobyl / Queen Margret Union, Glasgow) Efficient, imposing, dreary. Much of the residential buildings' architecture will be influenced by brutalist styles... a vapid husk in which people are stuffed within. Of course, also marred by the common lack of care for lower-class citizens of the megacity. Brutalism is one of the defining aspcts of Cyberpunk architecture.
- New York -- Times Square and Tyrone Park High-tech advertisements disconnected from the plight of the people it affects, contrasted with graffiti and lived-in areas. Plastered over the buildings of the residential area, signs will illuminate the smoggy night sky; meanwhile, down below, graffiti will line the streets and alleyways.
Game Research
- Cyberpunk 2077 In the title. "High tech, low life." The conflict between neon signs and advertisements with the trash, run-down buildigns they're haphazardly placed upon.
- Ruiner Another cyberpunk game. The residential areas are within close proximity of the factory section of the game. Some pipes and industrial imagery bleeds over into the residential hub as a result. [MAP NAME] will increase this aspect tenfold.
- Cry of Fear Claustrophobic residential interiors. An interesting gallery for combat encounters. There is some traversal between floors/rooms/balconies through connected scaffolding which fits into [MAP NAME]'s industrial theme as well.
