Texture Generation

Paper on realistic rust

'Patinas' are the addition or removal of material on a surface due to a chemical reaction.

Can use Cellular Automata (similar to Conway's game of life) to model the growth of Moss/Rust

A linear color space is recommended for the Rusterizer. In the Rusterizer Shader, base textures are assumed to be sRGB. The shader uses default gamma correction of .4545 to convert sRGB values to linear. If a texture image already happened to be linear, this value could be set to 1 instead.

Rust Distribution Map vs Rust Probability Map - can be painted by artist or inferred from ambient occlusion
