Organization
To beginning, Aland Sailing Robot is a research center where we design autonomous mobile marine research platform using wind and solar energy. It is located in the University of Aland in Mariehamn, called Hogskolan Pa Aland.
Sailing Robots
These unmanned sailing robot are used to realize scientific surveys at Sea as the salinity of the water or the temperature. The main objective is to have an autonomous marine platform which can spend months at a time at sea. That's included the needs to have a navigation module which manage a lot of sensor and actuator and a collision avoidance system taking into account the traffic and others floating object.
Moreover, the sailing robots participate at the World Robotic Sailing Championship which includes different tests.
Current Robots
Nowaday, two robots have been developed on a base of Mini-J hull with different technology.

Janet is the first boat created with the standardized soft sails of the boat. Including this sailing robot, we have the material base to manage the sails, the rudder and the marine sensors, to communicate.

ASPire is the second boat to be elaborate with a new kind of sail, a wing sail like the SailDrone. Also, it brings a new system, a wind vane, provide energy saving on long tacks of sailing.
