Welcome to the Battleships-again wiki!

The game we are making is called Battleships. The team members are Alexis Tsolidis-Noyce, Daniel Schurmann and Ulysses Seferi

In the middle of a navy battle two ships come within range of each other but can't each other through the fog... an intense battle is sure to come. Battleships intends to launch on the android playstore and itunes shop for both tablets and phones. The aesthetic will be based on world war two and as such we've tried to make the style fit as closely in with 1940s military ships as possible both in visual effects and in audio.

Game screens and flow The game will launch onto a main menu screen from which the player can navigate up and down through text options to start a game or go to the game options menu. Once a game is started the player/players is/are take to a setup screen to place their ships once complete they are automatically taken into the in game screen.

User Interface The main menu screen will consist of a background image, a battleship, and there will be text options for a single player game, player Vs AI, multiplayer game, player Vs player or options. Upon selecting an option the player will hear a sound effect that indicates to the user that the input is valid. If the player selects to start the game the main menu will be replaced with a screen that allows the player to place their different battleship on a grid, once this is done the game will commence. However if the player selects options the main menu screen will be replaced with the options screen giving the player different options that are changeable.

Game play Battleships is a simple guessing game. Each player has 2 10x10 grids, with y axis labeled A-F and x axis label 1-10. One of these grids is the primary grid, where each player places their ships, unbeknownst to the other players. The other is the primary grid, where the players track their opponents ships, using knowledge of where their hits and misses occur. Each player has 5 ships of various grid-based sizes, these are 5x1, 4x1, 3x1, 3x1 and 2x1. The players first off place their ships on the primary grid without their opponent knowing. They then take turns at guessing where they think their opponents ships may be, using coordinates corresponding with the grid. If a player guesses correctly, a hit is announced and the player who hit the ship marks it on their tracking grid, while the player whose ship got hit marks it on their ship on the primary grid. Once a ship has been hit in every grid space it lies in, it is announced that a battleship has been sunk. If a player misses, it is marked on this player's tracking sheet so that they don't shoot the same spot twice. The game is won and complete when one player has sunk all of their opponent's ships.

Assets For the main menu a background image will be needed as well as a confirmation sound that is played when an option is select by the player. For the main game an image for the board, images for the different types of battleships, sounds for a shot being fired and impacting both water and enemy battleships, animations for battleships being hit and for shots hitting the water will be required.
