Description
On the first night, Aphrodite picks one distinct (ie: not joined to other pairs) pair of lovers per every six players. Aphrodite wins if any pair of lovers survives until the end of the game, even if Aphrodite is dead. If all pairs of lovers die, Aphrodite dies. Aphrodite wins along with the lovers ie: they share the victory. Otherwise, the lovers will have no chance of winning.
Variants
If all pairs of lovers die, Aphrodite could become a villager, or potentially a werewolf or a Traitor.
Use and balance
The lovers will increase the death count by a lot, although Aphrodite is trying to make sure the lovers don’t die. Obviously, Aphrodite cannot be used in games with a player count of less than six. Aphrodite “piggybacks” the lovers’ win, as Aphrodite wins with the lovers.
Aphrodite is essentially a Cupid that is neutral and able to pick more lovers.
Script
Moderator: (first night) Aphrodite, open your eyes. Pick one pair of lovers for every six players.
(Aphrodite opens their eyes and picks the lovers.)
Moderator: (to all players) If I tap you once, you are lover pair A, if I tap you twice you are lover pair B etc...
(Moderator taps the lovers.)
Moderator: Aphrodite, shut your eyes.
(Moderator wakes up each lover pair separately.)
Play advice
Aphrodite should put the lover’s survival over their own, as they can win even if they are dead. Claiming to be an investigative role and saying that the lovers aren’t werewolves might work, but if the player with that role might counterclaim so it is advisable this is used as a last resort.
Another way would be to hint to be an investigative role, rather than claiming it. Unless there is one investigative role in the game, no-one will be able to counterclaim but your advice will still be taken.
