Description

Angry villager is a villager that cannot vote for no lynch or abstain from voting. If the angry villager breaks this rule, they are automatically eliminated by the moderator.

Variants

A variant is that the angry villager could abstain, but not vote no lynch, or the other way round.

Use and balance

Most of the time, this will not affect a player, as players don’t often abstain or vote no lynch. Some of its power derives from being a Named villager. It’s restriction is most likely felt at MyLo where it is advisable for team good to have no lynch.

This role can’t be used in the Nomination method of voting or any game that doesn’t have a no lynch mechanic. The nomination method equivalent is the Village idiot (nomination method).

Script

Moderator: (first night) Angry villager, open your eyes so I know who you are.

(Angry villager opens their eyes. The moderator remembers/notes down who the angry villager is.)

Moderator: Angry villager, close your eyes.

Play advice

A player with this role must ruthlessly prioritise and use strategy when being forced to vote. If they wanted to abstain, they might vote for a player they think will get the minority of votes. However, if they want no lynch, it is not as simple. They are forced to pick to lynch the player who they assume will have the least loss on the village team, based on the player’s estimated role and their experience.
