RimPacts Compatibility
Overview and requirements
Settlement Services has a built-in, optional compatibility integration with
RimPacts - Diplomacy Overhaul.
It requires no companion mod or patch and needs nothing enabled on your end;
it activates automatically whenever RimPacts (wowgag.RimPacts) is active
alongside Settlement Services, and stays completely inert otherwise.
Political availability
A settlement cannot accept a new paid service contract while you have personally embargoed its faction in RimPacts, or while its faction is in a RimPacts civil war.
Both conditions disable the settlement's Services command in the caravan gizmo bar and are rechecked by every quote, acceptance, and job start, so a Services dialog that was already open when the state changed cannot slip a new request through.
This does not change how a hostile faction behaves; that rule is entirely
separate and unaffected. A contract that is already Active when an embargo
or civil war begins is left alone: it keeps running under its accepted
price and terms, and custody/collection of anything held at the settlement
works exactly as it always does. Only a Reserved job (one that has been
paid for but has not yet started) is affected: if the embargo or civil war
begins before it starts, it fails automatically and is fully refunded,
before any pawn or item is taken into custody.
RimPacts blocks its own vanilla settlement trading under these same two conditions, so this mirrors the expectation RimPacts itself already sets. A RimPacts succession dispute is deliberately not a hard block, matching how RimPacts treats its own settlement trading and Hospitality integration.
Market pricing
When RimPacts' own market prices setting is enabled, Settlement Services quotes follow RimPacts' global economy the same way vanilla trade prices do:
- Boom raises prices.
- Recession lowers them.
- Normal conditions add nothing, and no line item appears.
This uses only RimPacts' single global economy adjustment. It does not attempt to emulate RimPacts' per-good pricing, treaties, monopolies, or trade-route effects; those are out of scope for this integration.
Settings
Settlement Services adds a RimPacts market price scale slider to its mod settings, under the Pricing section:
- Default: 100% (follows RimPacts' economy adjustment as-is).
- Range: 0%–200%.
- At 0%, political availability (the embargo/civil-war block above) stays fully active, but the price adjustment is removed entirely.
RimPacts must also have its own market prices setting enabled for a line item to ever appear; Settlement Services' slider only scales that effect, it does not turn RimPacts' own setting on.
Quote and payment semantics
When active, a quote affected by the current economy state shows an extra line labeled "RimPacts market conditions", positive during a boom and negative during a recession. Every service still respects its own minimum price floor even after this adjustment is applied.
Accepting a quote rebuilds it fresh and freezes the resulting price and terms onto the job at that moment. A later change in RimPacts' economy state, or in the market price scale setting, never alters an already accepted job, its completion, or any refund it later receives; those all use the frozen accepted amount.
Specialty migration after a change of ownership
RimPacts can hand a settlement to a different faction through conquest, civil-war/independence outcomes, or puppet progression. When that happens, Settlement Services re-checks that settlement's generated specialties the next time it actually needs them (opening its services dialog, validating a request, or building a quote), and regenerates them if the new owner's faction, tech level, category, or ideology would no longer produce the old set. This is a lazy, on-demand check, not a periodic scan; it also recognizes a RimPacts puppet faction's own definition changing, even if the faction itself stays the same.
This never touches an existing contract: a job that is already Active
when ownership changes keeps its accepted price, terms, and custody exactly
as before. It only affects which specialties a settlement offers going
forward.
Service trust reward
Settlement Services can optionally award a small RimPacts trust gain when a paid service completes successfully, through RimPacts' own trust API.
- Default: enabled, worth a fixed +1 trust (before RimPacts' own trust settings, such as its trust gain factor or court bonuses).
- Shared cooldown per faction, 1–60 in-game days, default 10; every service that faction completes for you draws from the same cooldown, not a separate one per service type.
- Awarded once, on completion, not on quote, acceptance, cancellation, failure, collection, or a service-event outcome. A service is credited the moment its work finishes, even if you haven't sent a caravan to collect the result yet.
- Credited to the faction that accepted the contract, not whichever faction happens to own the settlement by the time the service finishes. A RimPacts conquest between acceptance and completion cannot turn an old provider's completed contract into trust for its conqueror.
The reward is intentionally absent when a service is cancelled or fails, when the provider faction is still on cooldown, when RimPacts isn't installed or its API doesn't match what this integration expects, and for any faction RimPacts itself excludes from trust, such as a non-diplomacy faction, a puppet, or one it considers defeated; RimPacts remains the final authority over whether a trust change actually applies. There is no extra message or letter for the reward itself; the trust change shows up in RimPacts' own faction UI and log.
