Customizing your Marketing Link Interstitial

Objective

In this exercise, we will introduce Deep Link Interstitials and show how they can be customized to maximize impact.

Pre-requisites

It will be helpful to have a good basic understanding of how to create a deep link in the Adobe Mobile Services UI. You can learn more about how to do this by completing the Creating Deep Links in Adobe Mobile Services lab exercise.

Implementation steps

Basic Interstitials

  1. Select your app from Adobe Mobile Services and goto the Marketing Link Builder and click Create New.

  2. Fill out the form as normal using a name like Basic Interstitial.

  3. Before you continue, at the bottom of the form click Edit Deep Link Interstitial.

    Edit

The Deep Link Interstitial window will appear:

  6. Save and finish building the rest of your Marketing Link, using an App Deep Link as the destination type.

Custom Interstitials

The default interstitial is a little bit bland. We can customize it to add a little sizzle.

  1. First, download the following file to your desktop:

Right Click and Save Me to Desktop

  2. Select your app from Adobe Mobile Services and goto the Marketing Link Builder and click Create New.

  3. Fill out the form as normal using a name like Custom Interstitial.

  4. At the bottom of the form click Edit Deep Link Interstitial.

    Edit

  5. This time. We will use the file you downloaded. Drag and drop the file from your desktop to the drop-zone in the modal. The custom interstitial should now appear in the preview window.

  6. Click the tablet button in the top right corner to see how the custom interstitial adapts to the provided screen.

  7. Save and finish building your link. Use the Copy menu to get the link again and paste it into the browser. You should see the custom interstitial this time.

See it in Action

The easiest way to test this out is to use the QR code. From your list of apps, let's first click on your link that used the default template.

  1. From your list of Marketing Links, find basic interstitial link and click the Copy button next to the link.

    Copy

  2. Use the QR code to navigate to the link on your phone. Note the use of the basic interstitial. Click the button to see where the app goes.

  3. From your list of Marketing Links, find custom interstitial link and click the Copy button next to the link.

  4. Use the QR code to navigate to the link on your phone. Note the use of the custom interstitial. Click the button to see where the app goes.
