Why ByteAdventures exists

Fun

We love creating these kinds of events where like-minded people can exchange ideas, their excitement for topics, experiences and connect with each other. That includes us as we both know a lot of people in this space and this is a great opportunity to meet everyone.

We want to realise our ideal vision of a Tech conference

Basically ByteAdventures is the result from all the conferences, tech events and Meetups Sarah and I ever organised, spoke at or visited. Now we want to convert all the learnings and ideas from the insights and the conversations we had with other Speakers, Organisers and visitors of those events into the perfect conference for Geeks like you and me. Key is to enable everyone that wants to become part of the conference to contribute and get something back for that.

Enable everyone's potential

The digital and physical world are converging more every day, impacting each other, with us writing the code that runs this new world. With this great power comes great responsibility. We have a big impact with our decisions of which companies we work at, the projects we take on and the technology we want to contribute to and need to get as many people from all over the world, different cultural and social backgrounds involved in building this new world. That's why we want to excite more people to get into Tech, coding and science and inspire people to check out new topics by all of us sharing our excitement for the topics that fascinate us the most. What ByteAdventures is supposed to be

Fun, non-commercial and 100% inclusive

It's supposed to be pure fun for everyone and not just a conference or events but a community, where people meet, exchange and interact. Any penny we get will only be used to cover the costs for the conference and make it more awesome the next time to benefit purely the people attending the events. Mainly we want to be as inclusive as possible and enable everyone with our digital-first-approach to join the conference independent of your financial situation, experience or where you live.

Passion is key not business value

People create the greatest things - not because they are paid for it, but because they are passionate about it. Therefore we don't care about the practicality and impact of your topic for some business. Passion and excitement for your topic is most important, since for experienced speakers it makes the difference between a good and an amazing talk. Even with no speaking experience, with passion and some basics you can get people to listen to you and get them excited for your topic.

OpenSource & Contributions

Everything we do is and will be open-source, for everyone to contribute and participate in creating an amazing experience for everyone else. As every good openSource project, contributors will be celebrated in the community and wherever we can 😎. Contributing will be your entry to the next conference, a special role in the community and cool goodies and merch. 😬 How ByteAdventures will achieve this

How ByteAdventures will achieve this

Digital first

Due to current circumstances 😒 we will go fully digital for the first event in 2021. This is not just a challenge but also a great opportunity to realise the ideals and vision that we have for ByteAdventures. To still have a community experience the event itself will take place in a world we create together with anyone that wants to contribute on https://gather.town - for now this is only for the conference but we envision to have Gather or a similar solution as a permanent place for the community to come together. Short term outside of the events we will get together on discord to exchange there.

Partners that share our idea/ls and vision

We already have inquiries from different companies and potential partners that want to contribute and share our vision and idea/ls. Those selected believe just as we do that the most important thing, when it comes to creating something new is not purely experience and knowledge but that those are things that can be learned and that the most important thing is to be excited for a topic, passionate to create something new and eager to learn. They have a clear mission on how we can impact the world in a positive way and we are happy about any partner that wants to contribute to our mission.

New format

With common conferences you usually have topic specific tracks that intersect and really provide little guidance on what to expect. Therefore we have to first of all replace topic tracks with their purpose, so you know exactly what the purpose of each talk you listen to is and focus based on our basic idea on inspirational Talks for the first event. Secondly, talks and their topics are explored more easily via tags and their correlation to each other. Also in addition to normal abstracts that focus on the content of the talk, you can easily browse the talks just like on Tiktok in form of short elevator pitches from the speakers to get a feel of their excitement for the topic. (And tbh who really ever reads all the abstracts of all the talks there are? 🙃) Last but not least our Sandbox is a safe environment to try out their first talk. We will provide you with guidance on how to do a talk. You are able to pre record, rehearse and optimise your talk up front as much as you want, send it to us and we will give you feedback on possible improvements. After that we will publish you as part of ByteAdventures on our channels and you might get the best talks get the chance to be viewed on our events, with you getting into a direct Q&A with the attendees.
