To save your work without having to pay for storage, you may store it in your own Amazon Machine Image (AMI).

1. To save the machine as an image, first go to the "instances" tab of the EC2. Select the machine you want to save. Then click on the actions tab to get a drop down menu.

2. Click on the "image" and "create image" option

3. Name your image and finish creating it.
