Add Description to Interactive Maps - AamAadmiParty/india-standalone-drupal GitHub Wiki

As a user with Admin permissions, go to http://www.aamaadmiparty.org/admin/structure/views/view/svg_maps.

  1. Click on the Display you want to add description to. Refer Image 1. In the given Image its “Aam Aadmi Party”.

  1. In the display you selected, in the header part click on “Top Description”. If the Top Description link does not exists, then click on “Add” for the “Header” block. An overlay will open up on the page select “Global: Text Area”, ensure that on the header of overlay the select list shows “This Page(Override)”. The click on “Apply” in the bottom. (Image 2)

  1. Now a new overlay will open up. In that overlay, make sure the “Label” text field reads “Top Description”, if its empty then you can fill it. :P Make sure the checkbox “Display Even if view has no result.” is checked. In the “More” options in the bottom, make sure the “Administrative Title” is same as “Label”. And write the description in the text box in the middle of the overlay. You can also select the format of text like “Full HTML”, “Restricted HTML”, “Plain Text” or “PHP Code”. At the end click on “Apply” in the bottom of the overlay.(Image 3)

  1. Now, the overlay goes off the screen. In the page, recheck the path of the page under “Page settings”. The description will show up on this page only and no other page. (Image 4) You can now see the “Top Description” under “Header” in the middle of the view.(Image 4)

Now, if you have added the description for the first time then you would see the “Top Description” after “Global: PHP”. If the “Global: PHP” comes before “Top Description”, click on the down arrow beside the “Add” link for the “Header” block of the display. (Image 4) And rearrange it by dragging “Top Description” to the top of the list and click on “Apply”. If everything is fine, click on “Save” on the top right and you can see the description on the top of the page. (Image 5) If you think you have added the description on wrong page click on “Cancel”, and go to different displays and check their “Path”, and then add the description. (Image 4)
