64 bit audio files - AMoody/projecttrans GitHub Wiki

64 bit audio files.

Starting with build 77 64 bit audio files are suported.

During testing with various audio editing platforms and various versions of Ardour it became clear that support for 64 bit audio files is patchy, especially with earlier versions of software.

Project translator allows you to prefer one of the 64 bit formats over the other, either W64 (sony) or RF64 (EBU). Files are converted as required so you don't need to use an external converter.

It is also possible to exclude the bext chunk from the output audio files. If you're converting to AES31 then technically the project is invalid without bext chunks in the audio, however some software seems to be unable to read 64 bit files with a bext chunk.

Some software also requires thet the file extension is always .wav no matter what the file format is so there's a preferences option for that too.

Some trial and error may be needed to get the project in to a format which your software can read but the preferences are saved so you should only have to do this once.
