Game Workflow

Start and Main Title

The first thing you can see when starting the game it's a short cinematic where the title of the game appearing as the snow bros main characters cross the screen on top of two snowballs, after that a golden medal with the face of one of the snow bros fades in. The title screen show us the player 1 and player 2 last scores and the high score record between those, it also appears Toaplan logo and copyright text and how many credits you have put.

If the player doesn’t insert a coin, it can be seen a cinematic were the game explains it´s rules, what power ups you can find and what they do.

After the tutorial two gameplay videos might show, a battle against the first boss of the game or a normal level, those videos are useful to see how the game and gameplay really works. During the duration of the videos a message will be twinkling on the middle of the screen telling the player to enter a coin.

At the end of the gameplay videos the game shows the high scores for a brief time, then the title screen again and repeats the cycle until a coin is inserted in the arcade.

When a player puts a coin the credit counter goes up by 1 and if the player 1 button is pressed the game starts, if there are at least two credits the game lets you play with the second player also, and instead of the “please insert coin” text on the gameplay videos appears the text “push 1p or 2p to play”

In Game

Between levels there is a short animation where the character flies up to the next floor, and when he gets there the enemies spawn falling from above.

Every teen floors there’s a boss, once it is defeated the next screen appears and the player gets teleported to the next stage.

If the player loses all his life's, the game over screen will we shown, where some enemies appear, some seconds later the continue screen fades in and countdown gives the players nine seconds to press the start button to use a credit to keep playing. If they don't continue the high scores appear.

After defeating the final boss, a video its shown with the snow brothers and the princess celebrating the victory as the sun goes up and turns into the logo we have seen at the title screen, and the message “Thank you: game end” and let’s the player put tree to save your score and maybe get appear in the high score list.

Finally the game over screen appears for a short amount of time and then the high scores list, after that the game returns to the main title.

Heads Up Display Analysis

Blue Color: Player 1 score. Red Color: Player 2 score (or the “insert coin” text if there are no credits left/ the “push button” if there are credits available). Green Color: The highest score on the arcade at the time. White Color: Lives remaining before the continue screen. Yellow Color: The points the player gets when defeating enemies or picking items. Black Color: Special letters “SNOW”, that give extra lives if the player collects four of them.
