Node Replace
Overview
Node replacement is a feature that enables administrators and users to replace inactive nodes with new, unassigned nodes. The permissions for replacement vary based on the user role:
- Admin users can replace inactive nodes with any unassigned node.
- Regular nodes can only replace with unassigned regular nodes.
- Super nodes can replace with unassigned super nodes.
Steps for Node Replacement
- Navigate to Inactive Nodes List:
- Access the system or platform where nodes are managed.
- Locate and enter the list of inactive nodes.
- Initiate Replacement:
- Identify the inactive node you want to replace.
- Click on the replace icon associated with the inactive node from the list.
- Select Replacement Node:
- A replacement interface will be prompted.
- Choose an unassigned node from the provided dropdown menu.
- For Admin users: Any unassigned node can be selected.
- For Regular nodes: Only unassigned regular nodes are available for selection.
- For Super nodes: Only unassigned super nodes are available for selection.
- Execute Replacement:
- After selecting the replacement node, click on the "Replace" button to finalize the operation.
Post-Replace Actions
- After the replacement process is completed:
- The inactive node will be deleted from the system.
- The unassigned node selected for replacement will automatically appear in the inactive node's previously mapped cluster.
Conclusion
Node replacement is a crucial functionality that streamlines the process of updating inactive nodes within a system. The permissions associated with replacement ensure that only appropriate nodes are selected based on user roles. Following the outlined steps ensures a smooth and controlled replacement process, contributing to the efficient management of the node infrastructure.
