xAPI Profile Server/Specification

The group continued its discussion of updating the cmi5 profile with the goal of making it reflect the cmi5 specification as closely as possible with the xAPI Profile specification. (Noting that xAPI profile specification cannot fully express the cmi5 specification in a xAPI profile)

The group began be making edits to add missing verbs to the profile. See this profile working draft from the meeting

The group then discussed the following approach to defining the cmi5 xAPI profile:

  1. Define General Restrictions Template (All Statements)
  2. Define cmi5 Allowed Statements Template
  3. Define specific cmi5 template for each of cmi5 defined verbs (9)

There was considerable discussion and debate over whether there should be more (10) templates or fewer templates that would be "composable".

How the "10 templates" approach would work was fairly clear, but how "composable templates" could work was not entirely understood and warrants more discussion.

The role of Patterns combined with Templates were discussed as a possible approach to the composable templates.
