Notes The group reviewed the past efforts on “informative language” in the CMI-5 Runtime specification then briefly reviewed the launch mechanism.

Ben Clark re-iterated an earlier position that a “generalized” launch specification might be an approach to cover multiple operating environments The launch specification would simply be an ordered list of parameters and a statement indicating the use of the “common means” of launch for a particular operating environment. Bill McDonald was uncertain if this approach would provide (“plug-and-play” interoperability) – this approach will be discussed further.

The Launch discussion also spawned another discussion about the learner launching more than one AU at a time. So far the group does not think that the specification should limit multiple launches, but noted that most LMS systems would not likely allow it. The discussion on “multiple open AUs” prompted lead to a discussion on how LMS course sequencing might be affected.

The group looked at the “MoveOn” course structure AU metadata

Changes to CMI-5 Course Structure Specification - Section 7.1.4 AU Meta Data – “MoveOn”

The following wording was changed to clarify the notion of “satisfying” course completion and perquisite requirements based on Verb/Status reported from AU’s. The notion of a default valued of “Not Applicable” was added to MoveOn to cover the case where an AU is “optional” in a course.

(LMS) Required: Yes DataType: String Default Value: “Not Applicable”

Usage:

MoveOn Value = "Passed" : If the LMS receives a statement with the verb "Passed", then the LMS will consider the AU satisfied.
MoveOn Value = "Completed" : If the LMS receives a statement with the verb "Completed", then the LMS will consider the AU satisfied.
MoveOn Value = "CompletedAndPassed" : If the LMS receives a statements with the verbs "Completed" and "Passed", then the LMS will consider the AU satisfied.
MoveOn Value = "CompletedOrPassed" : If the LMS receives a statements with either of the verbs "Completed" or "Passed", then the LMS will consider the AU satisfied.
MoveOn Value = "Not Applicable": The LMS will consider the AU satisfied.

Additional wording will be added to describe how “rollup” behavior will be affected by MoveOn values
