Notes

Outstanding Issues

The group reviewed the following issues:

Question about authentication security #767

  • Closed
  • There is no practical way to guarantee cheating cannot take place with an interoperability standard (like cmi5). There are multiple methods to reduce the risks of cheating, but that requires control of the learning environment (which is something outside of the scope of cmi5).

Development branch should be renamed main from quartz #696

  • More Discussion Needed
  • While the specification does explain the current process somewhat, there may be confusion over the meaning of versions give the number of errata/clarification revisions.
  • The "geo names" should mappable to numbers (e.g. Catapult has mapped Quartz to "1.0.0").
  • Semantic Versioning (to align with xAPI spec versioning)

(Per the Revision History section in the spec) ..

Versioning in the cmi5 specification is managed in the following manner:

  • Major Version – Stones (Sandstone, Quartz, etc.) – Major changes in functionality
  • Minor Version – Editions (1st edition, 2nd edition, etc.) – Minor changes in functionality.
  • Errata – Minor corrections that do not affect functionality are not versioned. (See GitHub repository for specific revision history)
