Notes

The group discussed specification Style Rules for the following:

  • Verb Names
  • Statement Names
  • Property Names

Proposed Style Rules:

  1. Back Ticks (`) for all literal names of verbs and properties – ‘completed’ verb
  2. Double Quotes for shorthand – “completed” statement
    • Always use lowercase (Literal syntax case)
  3. Titles with verbs/properties
    • Capitalized or Literal
    • 9.3.4 Passed

Usage example (short hand reference for a statement type with specific value of property)

  • A "completed" statement must contain a result of ‘completion’

Proposed spec changes:

Add information language to explain how the concept of statement is referred to in the spec:

This document uses, as shorthand, specific vocabulary such as verbs in conjunction with the word "statement" (e.g., a "completed" statement). This shorthand refers to that statement meeting all requirements that would accompany the correct use of that concept.

Update - 9.3.5 Failed - as follows:

9.3.5 Failed

The criterion for "Failed" is determined by the course designer.

Should be

9.3.5 Failed

The criterion for success determined by the course designer.

The criterion for issuing a “Failed” statement is determined by the course designer.

Should remove - "(cmi5 allowed or defined)" for 9.3 as follows:

9.3 Verbs

AU Verb Ordering Rules within an AU session are as follows:

  • Verbs MUST NOT be duplicated (in cmi5 defined statements).
  • More than one of the set of {"Passed","Failed"} verbs MUST NOT be used (in cmi5 defined statements).
  • The "Initialized" verb MUST be the first statement.
  • The "Terminated" verb MUST be the last statement.
