Notes

cmi5 adoption/promotion

The group discussed maintenance of the cmi5 adopters page (http://aicc.github.io/CMI-5_Spec_Current/adoption/) and agreed not to place vendor press release links on it. The discussion was prompted by the discovery of a press release this week from an LMS vendor announcing cmi5 support. The group will instead reach out to vendors making such announcements and ask if they would like to be added.

New Best Practices

The group agreed to add the following best practices:

Best Practice #9 - If an AU sends a statement that doesn’t conform to cmi5, the LMS should reject it (see section 6.3 of cmi5 specification) and return an HTTP error 403.

Best Practice #10 - LMS Administrators should use caution when changing the moveOn property: the AU may not have the capability of sending statements required by any moveOn value that was not in the original course structure. It is recommended that all changes to course structures after import be tested prior to learner assignment.

SCORM vs cmi5 Comparison Document

The group developed detailed sections for the following items in the detailed comparisons table:

  • Content Package
  • Objectives
  • Remediation
  • Prerequisites

See new draft sections here

And changed the description language for Prerequisites as follows:

With SCORM, prerequisites can be implemented by "simple sequencing" logic rules. cmi5 has the notion of "MoveOn" criteria for the completion of individual AU’s.

Discussion for next week

  • Expanded Definitions of SCORM vs cmi5
